Arne Rudvin

Arne Rudvin was born on 26th November 1929. He passed matriculation in 1948, furthering his studies at the School of Theology from which he graduated in 1954. The following year he took an internship, and continued his studies taking a master’s degree in Semitic languages (Arabic and Modern Persian) in 1957 at the University of Oslo before studying in England in 1958. That same year he was ordained a priest and in 1959 he travelled to Pakistan. Here he was envoy for the Norwegian Mohammedan mission, later Norwegian Muslim Mission, to Dera Ismail Khan and Mardan. In 1965 he was elected bishop in the Pakistan Lutheran Church which in 1970 became part of the Church of Pakistan, a union church with Anglicans, Methodists, Lutherans and Baptists. He continued as bishop of this church based in Karachi, Oslo and died on 29 December 2011 in Hemsedal.
